The 2026 Semmes Murphey Charity Open Brings Community Together in Support of the Semmes Murphey Foundation
For the third year in a row, the Semmes Murphey Charity Open brought together golfers, tennis players, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters at TPC Southwind for a day of friendly competition and giving, all in support of the nonprofit Semmes Murphey Foundation.
Hosted by Semmes Murphey neurosurgeon Dr. Michael LaBagnara and neurointerventionalist Dr. Lucas Elijovich, the tournament puts the spotlight on Memphis for having one of the largest neurosurgery training programs in the country, thanks to a unique and longstanding partnership between Semmes Murphey and University of Tennessee Health Sciences. Proceeds from the event directly benefit neuroscience research, clinical trials, and neurosurgery residency and fellowship training.
Celebrating Our Players and Participants
Golfers and tennis players filled the course and courts in support of a shared cause. Their participation and generosity were at the heart of the event, turning a day of competition and camaraderie into meaningful support for the Semmes Murphey Foundation.
This year’s women’s tennis tournament also welcomed members of the University of Memphis Tennis Teams, who joined the field of players competing in support of the Foundation. We were thrilled to have these talented student-athletes take part in the Semmes Murphey Charity Open and help make the day even more special.
A special thank you also goes to the many Semmes Murphey staff members who volunteered their time to help make the event a success. Their willingness to serve reflects the dedication to Semmes Murphey’s mission that extends throughout the organization.
Thank You to Our Sponsors
We extend a special thank you to West Cancer Center & Research Institute for their headline support of the golf championship.
We are also grateful to Baptist Foundation, Methodist Neuroscience Institute, Butler Snow, BioMed LLC, Gerber Taylor, The Hudson Family Foundation, International Paper, McGriff, USI, Memphis Medical Society, Buster’s Liquors & Wines, and Dive Shop + DiVentures.
Their sponsorships, along with the generosity of everyone who participated, helped make this year’s event possible.
Looking Ahead
Thank you to every player, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter who helped make the 2026 Semmes Murphey Charity Open a success. We look forward to bringing the community together again in 2027.
