Dr. Nitin Goyal and Semmes Murphey Foundation awarded grant for research on aneurysm treatment with Penumbra’s PC400 coil

Dr. Nitin Goyal will lead a multicenter study investigating the safety and effectiveness of the Penumbra PC400 coil, a medical device used to treat intracranial aneurysms. With Penumbra’s grant, Dr. Goyal and the investigative team will collect procedural data to assess the PC400 coil’s ability to effectively treat aneurysms.

While coiling remains a cornerstone therapy for aneurysms, aneurysmal recurrence leading to rebleeding continues to be a significant challenge. With its unique design, the Penumbra PC400 coil addresses these concerns, enhancing operative efficiency by decreasing procedure and fluoroscopy times.

Dr. Goyal’s prospective study will evaluate the long-term occlusion rates and safety of the PC400 coil, providing valuable data that will help guide aneurysm treatment patterns and patient care.
