Dr. Kevin Foley Honored at Memphis Medical Society Hall of Fame Gala

Semmes Murphey is proud to recognize Dr. Kevin Foley’s induction into the Memphis Medical Society Hall of Fame. This honor celebrates physicians whose work has made a lasting impact on medicine and the Memphis community.

The ceremony was held Saturday, April 25th, at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Dr. Foley was recognized alongside an inaugural class of physicians, including Drs. Reed C. Baskin, James C. Fleming, Hugh Francis III, G. Scott Morris, Claudette Shephard, Owen Britt Tabor Sr., Kurt W. Tauer, Indurani Tejwani, and Carter Towne. Together, this group represents leaders whose contributions have helped shape healthcare in Memphis.

During the ceremony, Dr. Foley’s wife, Dr. Lynn Foley, presented him with his Hall of Fame white coat. This recognition reflects not only his professional accomplishments but also the personal commitment that underlies his career.

Many Semmes Murphey physicians and staff attended to celebrate this milestone and show their support. Dr. Foley’s care team, including both his medical and administrative staff, joined him at his table as guests of honor. Their presence reflected the collective effort behind his work and the relationships built over decades of patient care.

The evening also brought together former students and colleagues, many of whom have been influenced by Dr. Foley’s leadership and commitment to advancing spine surgery and medical education. His career has spanned clinical care, research, and teaching, including his role as chairman of Semmes Murphey Clinic, a professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and founder of the Medical Education and Research Institute (MERI), where physicians from around the world are trained in advanced surgical techniques.

Dr. Foley’s induction is a meaningful recognition from his peers and reflects the standard of excellence he has set throughout his career.
