Semmes Murphey Clinic's Susan McChesney-Atkins, Ph.D., is entering retirement after over 25 years in the field of Neuropsychology. We are grateful for Dr. McChesney's contributions to her field and her dedication to each patient she has served during her career.

Dr. McChesney began her professional journey with interest in the educational and psychological needs of children. She has spent her career aiding children and young adults with various conditions ranging from autism to traumatic brain injuries. Semmes Murphey Clinic's neuropsychology department was in its beginnings when Susan joined in 1993. "Susan's work has undoubtedly affected the growth of the neuropych department over the years. We are saying goodbye to a specialist with so much experience in the field. However, her contribution in shaping the department will certainly stay with us," said John Lewis Semmes Murphey Clinic CEO.

In addition to decades of excellent patient care, Dr. McChesney has spent a significant amount of time educating and serving the community. Dr. McChesney has served as a mentor to many and professor at the University of Memphis. She has been actively involved in the training and supervision of graduate students, interns, and post-doctoral fellows from the Memphis VA Medical Center, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She has also been procured as a consultant in many legal cases.

Dr. McChesney leaves behind an exemplary legacy, and we are grateful to have been part of it. We wish her a happy retirement.
