Earl Dane Jones
Dr. Earl Dane Jones is a neurosurgeon specializing in open cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery. He provides comprehensive care for stroke, brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, carotid artery disease, dural arteriovenous fistulas, and other complex vascular conditions affecting the brain and spine. His practice incorporates both minimally invasive endovascular procedures and traditional microsurgical treatment options, allowing care to be individualized to each patient’s condition.
Dr. Jones grew up in a small town in central North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied neurobiology and psychology and conducted neuroscience research focused on spinal lower motor neuron pathways and vascular dysfunction. He earned his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
He completed his neurosurgical residency at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident and ranked among the top 10 nationally on the written neurosurgery board examination. Following residency, he completed a two-year fellowship in open and endovascular cerebrovascular neurosurgery at Semmes Murphey Clinic, one of the nation’s leading neurovascular training programs.
Throughout residency and fellowship, Dr. Jones participated in clinical research involving stroke intervention, aneurysm treatment, flow diversion, and emerging neurovascular technologies. He has contributed to scientific publications and presentations at national neurosurgical meetings and has served as a sub-investigator in multicenter clinical trials evaluating innovative neurovascular therapies.
He is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery. He is passionate about patient-centered care and advancing neurosurgical practice through evidence-based innovation, clear communication, and individualized treatment planning.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Rebecca, their daughters, Sophia and Caroline, and their two dogs.
