Back and neck pain are on the rise. Studies have shown an incremental increase in back pain reported in the US, particularly in those over the age of 65. This increase means that treatment must be made more readily available to those that need it. The growing need is why Semmes Murphey has decided to help bring this valuable resource to the community.

Back and neck pain is an unfortunate part of life and can sometimes interrupt it. According to recent studies, 60%-80% of adults will experience back pain that interferes with their daily activities. Also, back and neck pain consistently ranks in the top 5 disabling disorders in the United States.

At the onset of significant pain, the road to relief can be unpredictable. However, a thorough examination from a specialist will give you the best chance of discovering the root cause of your pain. The next step is developing a plan custom to your needs. However, the root cause of your pain may remain a mystery if the analysis of your condition is not thorough enough or if the professional examining you does not have expertise in spine-related issues. Without the real root cause of your pain uncovered, any treatment, no matter how skillfully deployed, may be unsuccessful.

Most people know to seek help from a spine care specialist if they feel symptoms in their neck or back. However, many are unaware that spine conditions don’t always result in back pain alone. Pain may present in a number of different ways, including tingling down your arm, numbness in the leg, and general weakness in your grip strength. These symptoms in your extremities can be caused by one of the many spine conditions treated by physicians at Semmes Murphey and now also, SpineXpress.
