Introducing SMC Southaven's newest Physical Therapist, Blake White

Semmes Murphey welcomes Blake White as a physical therapist in our newly expanded Southaven, MS location.

The Southaven office has recently expanded its physical therapy facilities and services. PT now commands more than half of Semmes Murphey's suite, and exam rooms have more than doubled.

"Semmes Murphey Clinic is making significant efforts to offer comprehensive physical therapy services in Southaven. We have invested roughly $600,000 into the project and hope to grow as a trusted resource for the area" says Semmes Murphey Chief Financial Officer, Brent Patterson.

Blake, a Mississippi native, feels right at home.

Blake is from Alpine, MS, and graduated from Saltillo High School. He has a BS in Exercise Science from Ole Miss and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine - Miami, FL.

Blake treats patients with spinal issues, chronic pain, coordination deficiencies, neurological disorders, and problems with balance or gait. He especially enjoys treating patients with symptoms related to Parkinson's, MS, or stroke. "Being a resource in their recovery is a role I don't take lightly. Most of my patients have big mountains to climb, and I like to be there every step of the way."

For Blake, it's all about the personal connection. "I like showing someone what they can achieve. I understand the connection between a patient's mental state and their physical state. For example, anxiety and depression can magnify a patient's pain," he says.

His buzzword is 'progress,' and he's constantly pushing his patients to keep working. "I want to see progress … to me, that is perfection. I have faith in what my patients can achieve, so I don't let them slack off. But we have a lot of fun while we work. I care about the trajectory of their healing and want to see them enjoy fulfilling lives," he says. He recalls the Maya Angelou quote, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

"I hope, when people think about their treatment with me, they remember that I made them feel good about themselves."
