Dr. Jon Robertson graduated from Southwestern College (now Rhodes) in Memphis, Tennessee with a BA in 1968. He was accepted to the University of Tennessee Medical School in 1968, obtaining his M.D. in 1971. He spent his internship year at the City of Memphis Hospitals and completed his residency in Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, finishing his education in 1979.
Dr. Robertson’s academic career began as he was immediately appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in August, 1979. He rose to Associate Professor in 1984 and took on the role of Director of the Neurosurgery Residency Program in 1995. At the retirement of the Chairman in 1996, Dr. Robertson was appointed Acting Chairman, and officially accepted the Chairmanship of the Department of Neurosurgery of the University of Tennessee, Memphis in February, 1997.
Currently, Dr. Robertson’s position includes research and neurosurgery specializing in skull base tumors.
In addition to his volunteer and academic activities, Dr. Robertson maintains an active practice in neurological surgery with the Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute.
Married to Carol Ann Robertson. They have five children.
